We often receive queries regarding the different KYC statuses shown on mutual fund platforms. Here's a simple explanation of the two terms:
KYC Registered
This status means your basic KYC documents (PAN, identity proof, address proof) have been submitted and recorded with a KYC Registration Agency (KRA). However, the details have not yet been independently verified against official databases. With "KYC Registered" status, you can still invest in mutual funds, but certain transactions or additional folios may require re-verification.
KYC Validated
This is a more advanced status where your details — especially PAN, Aadhaar, and other identity information — have been verified and confirmed through official sources (such as Income Tax database or Aadhaar-based verification). Once your KYC is "Validated," you enjoy seamless investing across all AMCs and platforms without repeated document submissions.
Why it matters:
SEBI has made it mandatory for investors to move from "Registered" to "Validated" status to ensure smoother, paperless, and uninterrupted investment experience across all mutual fund houses.
If your KYC status shows "Registered" and not "Validated," we recommend completing the validation process at the earliest to avoid any transaction disruptions.
